Chairman’s Message

Chairmans Message Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has achieved many milestones of success during a brief period of time. Established in 1991, PEF has now been transformed into a forward looking and robust organization with presence in all 36 districts of the province, benefiting 2.5 million children through a network of 7500 Partner Schools.

It is important to point out that PEF's Public-Private Partnership model has been designed in collaboration with the private sector and this partnership has benefitted both the Government of the Punjab and the private partners in many ways. This model has also won the confidence of international donors and has greatly helped to root out illiteracy and ignorance.

The Foundation has arranged free education and introduced different useful and need-based interventions to cater to the needs of such communities. In fact, it has emerged as a ray of hope for the underprivileged strata who otherwise cannot afford to send their children to schools for economic reasons.

By the grace of Allah, the Foundation is today serving more than 2.5 million most deserving students in Punjab and the best part of it is that almost half of the beneficiaries are girls. PEF does not provide education alone, but also strives to inculcate child-friendly schooling to transform these students into confident leaders of tomorrow.

It is heartening to point out that the PEF has provided level playing field to different strata through its educational endeavors. It has immensely contributed in building a softer image of Pakistan and thus attracted foreign donors to synergize PEF's efforts to ensure quality education for all children without any discrimination of caste, creed or social status. This, in my opinion, is the best service to the future generations of our country and true interpretation of vision of our founding fathers. PEF's endeavors shall also help government in achieving the goals of universal education, enshrined in article 25 of Pakistan's constitution and being pursued through international covenants like SDGs, which aim to achieve 100 percent enrolment of school age children by 2030.

I believe that education is the very foundation of a strong, prosperous and enlightened Pakistan where children of all communities shall have equal opportunity to grow and contribute in nation building.

Mr.Sardar Aftab Akbar
Chairman PEF
